Janet
Bennett - Harpist and singer Janet Bennett studied harp and singing at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Equally at home playing the Celtic harp and concert harp she has played with many professional ensembles and orchestras such as the Scottish National and the Northern Sinfonia. Her main love however is singing with self accompaniment and she is currently delighting audiences from all over the world with this art form, having performed to Royalty and civic dignitaries alike. Now resident in Newcastle upon Tyne, Janet gives regular concerts, has released several recordings, made numerous radio and television appearances and enjoys performing traditional music and songs with her group, "The Border Minstrels". This album contains some of Janet's favourite
repertoire. It is a mixture of classical, traditional and popular
music and songs, even including a little jazz- something for everyone! Ruth Winter trained ar Goldsmith's College, University of London, where she graduated with an honours degree in music. In 1995 she won the Margaret Harle Memorial prize for Woodwind as a Chamber musician, an orchestral musician and a soloist, giving first performances of several works. Ruth and Janet met in1995 when they were asked to provide flute, harp and voice music for a wedding ceremony. She now enjoys giving recitals with her and exploring the flute and harp repertoire.
