Compositions by Johann Strauss arranged for harp |
A very impressive pedal harp solo filled with arpeggios, glissandoes, and harpistic flourishes. This is a true encore piece!
This arrangement is printed with the permission of the estate of Mildred Dilling, exactly as in the handwritten copy that she gave to Louise Trotter as a student in New York City many years ago. Miss Dilling concertized throughout her lifetime, and played this piece at most of her concerts. She helped organize the American Harp Society, and was one of the most well known harpists of the 20th century. She was a long time student of Henriette Renie in Paris, and made her debut at the Salle Erard there. She performed all over the world, incorporating into the program a demonstration of some of her rare harps which included Irish, Ethiopian, and 12thC harps. Her most famous pupil was Harpo Marx, who would sometimes show up at her concerts to play an encore.
