In early 2021 I was commissioned by the Knox family to write a new work for harp duo. Three Miniatures is dedicated to Margaret Fowlie, who will be celebrating a special birthday this year. I would also like to dedicate the music to Margaret’s two lovely granddaughters, whom I have the privilege of teaching (and who definitely do not have to wear sparkly dresses when playing the harp, should they prefer not to do so!) The first harp part can be played on any harp with 26 strings or more. The second harp part can be played either on a full-size lever harp (with around 34 strings), or on any pedal harp. The first harp part can be played on any harp with 26 strings or more. The second harp part can be played either on a full-size lever harp (with around 34 strings), or on any pedal harp.

Since neither part requires lever or pedal changes once the piece has commenced, it is possible to play the music on harps with neither pedals nor levers. Such instruments would need to be tuned to the key of E flat major.

Fingerings are suggestions only.

The three pieces can be performed individually or as a suite.
