I wrote this ensemble in June 2016. However, I wrote the melody years and years earlier, as a means of helping pupils develop their reading skills while identifying groups of notes that belonged to the F major tonic or dominant 7th chords. That particular year was very wet - it never seemed to stop raining - and it seemed entirely appropriate to enhance the piece’s entertainment value by adding some suitable words. Please feel free to change the words according to climatic conditions...

...Though if you’re performing this on a particularly wet day, playing the first verse with all the performers singing the existing lyrics might go down very well. In fact why not teach it to the audience too, then they can join in with the last verse...

As you’ll realise, the three parts in this ensemble are consistent throughout: “Melody” always plays the melody, “Harmony” always plays the harmony, etc. With some other ensembles I’ve shared those elements out so all players get a turn at doing something different, but quite a lot of groups have said they prefer sticking to one thing.
