Robin Huw Bowen (Triple Harp) Robin Huw Bowen's influence on the worlds of Welsh folk music and harping has been far-reaching. Since 1983, Robin has championed the cause of the Welsh Triple Harp on a world-wide scale, through touring widely in many countries, introducing Welsh music to thousands all over the world. In each performance, his inspired playing rekindles the very soul of the music and delivers it as a living entity to his listeners. His visionary work of researching and publishing old lost Welsh melodies has been invaluable to the Folk world, and the constant demand for him to lecture, teach, or perform is proof that he is one of the leading authorities on Welsh folk music. He undoubtedly ranks among the most important figures that the Welsh folk tradition has produced. In the Machynlleth Festival in 2000, Robin was awarded the Glyndŵr Medal for 'an outstanding contribution to the arts in Wales', and in 2002 he won a BAFTA (Cymru) for his original score for the S4C film Eldra. In 2004 he was honoured with the order of 'Druid' (the Gorsedd White Robes) at the Newport National Eisteddfod. Want to know more? ......... |
