Gombau Guerra (1906 - 1971)
GERARDO GOMBAU GUERRA* occupies a place of honor among Spain’s eminent musicians. He was born in picturesque Salamanca and exhibited his musical ability at an early age in playing the violin, viola, clarinet, trumpet, and, to a great degree, in piano and composition. He is an accomplished conductor, frequently directing performances of his works with major symphony orchestras of Europe. For many years, he has been Conductor of the Ballet Espanol Orchestra, in Madrid and on European tours; Professor of Piano Accompaniment at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid; and an active, recognized composer. *GUERRA: Maternal family name. |
