Sonata
Tanguera The first album of the Duo Aguirre-Rocco released in Europe, combines two engrained Argentinian styles of music - European classical music and the tango. The musical themes and rhythmic elements are preserved while integrated into traditional chamber music. The name-giving Tango-Sonata (orig.: Sonata Tanguera) was developed in 2001, in a time of political crisis in Argentinia and during a complete changeover in the life of the composer Pablo Aguirre. In searching for a new musical identity, an enrichment for the modern chamber music and a real new form of the classical sonata came into being. The structure of the sonata form is the basis for the Tango-Sonata. The fragments of the sonata form are seperated to create the new framework for the single movements. The Tango-Sonata is also influenced by Astor Piazolla's "Tango Nuevo" but finds its special musical shape. Buy this album now CD: £15.00 + p&p |

Reviews:Review: Sonata Tanguera in "Ensemble"
[...] the fate of the Argentine people can be experienced in a
deeply moving way. With its manifold articulations, the description
of existential emotions is as gripping as it is disturbing. [...]

Review: Sonata Tanguera in "Tango
Danza"
[...] this duo adds works with an extremely focused language to
the bridging of the genres (i.e. tango and classical music): With just
two instruments, the passion of tango is tamed through the classical
sonata form while its range of expression is expanded at the same time.

Review: Sonata Tanguera in "Hifi-Stars"
The cd-production »Sonata Tanguera« should serve as
a role model and because of that - and also because of the excellent
artistic performance! - it can be recommended without fault or blemish.
