Sonata for Flute & Harp
Martin Yates
About:
The musical equivalent of important extracts taken from a diary. For colleges and professionals.
Review:
"Another charming set of three short movements for flute (or violin) and harp. Playable and audience friendly they are a valuable addition to the repertoire, either as a concert piece or as background music. They are around grade 6-7ish standard. The first sits mainly in the middle and low octaves and has a flute cadenza towards the end. The second is more dreamlike with the melody in the flute part accompanied by an arpeggiated broken chord feature in the harp. The final movement is more lively and more of a duet between flute and harp, but again shouldn't pose any problems to get together with the harp." – Dr. Rachel Smith DMA, MA, BMus (Hons), FTCL – December 2012
Review:
"One Summer was composed for the British flute and harp duo of Anna Noakes and Gillian Tingay. This is a very technically and musically difficult duo sonata." – Suzanne L. Moulton-Gertig University of Denver in Notes, March 2000
