SM192: Chopin for Lever Harp

Chopin for Lever Harp
Jen Morris

Cover Image: Chopin for Lever HarpThese pieces have been arranged for lever harp. I always play the pieces with a certain element of rubato, not only to make the pieces sound better but on occasions to fit in the lever changes! I have had to change the key signatures to fit some of the pieces to the range of a lever harp but have kept as close as possible to the original key signature in pitch.

Arrangers Note

Chopin for Lever Harp

These pieces have been arranged for lever harp and the lever changes are shown throughout as crossheaded notes. Exactly where to change levers can be a question of personal preference so if you find one difficult to do then try moving it to a note before, or a note afterwards (if possible). Also, where there are several lever changes at once I have written the lever changes in the order I find easiest to change them in, but you might find them easier the other way around (for example, top to bottom rather than bottom to top). I always play the pieces with a certain element of rubato, not only to make the pieces sound better but on occasions to fit in the lever changes! I have had to change the key signatures to fit some of the pieces to the range of a lever harp but have kept as close as possible to the original key signature in pitch. I have also presumed that your lever harp is in E flat, but if you are playing an A flat harp it should not make any difference (save for the Raindrop prelude where you will not need to retune one of your D strings to D flat as instructed).
