Recuerdos de la Alhambra was written by Tarrega (1852-1909) in homage to the Parisian guitarist Alfred Cottin (1863-1923). As an etude for the harp it is highly effective for developing tremolo techniques. The arranger prefers a right hand fingering of 321, while others may choose 212,121 or 432. Dynamic contrasts are suggested at the outset of the arrangement as a guide to what may follow later, but exact dynamic inflections throughout the piece are left to the performer's discretion since they are not indicated by the composer.
