Jeffrey Mayhew studied French
and English literature and language with Louis Allen at Durham
University where he obtained his MA.
Having been active in both music and drama in his school days he gravitated naturally
towards these activities at Durham but with an emphasis on design and build,
an interest that became his main theatrical pursuit for many years both for pleasure
and professionally.
In tandem he pursued formal studies in music (piano, harp, voice and composition)
with teachers including Nicholas Powell, John Hargreaves and Helen Arnold.
His range and knowledge of performance and production elements led, slightly
circuitously, to twenty years of teaching drama, of youth and community theatre
design and of theatre management.
Over the last decade, he has turned more and more to acting and is now acting
full time as a character actor across the whole range of media but particularly
enjoying good fringe theatre and innovative short independent films.
Since 2002 he has been writing much of his own material including Swift and Cooking
with Puccini (dir. Guy Masterson) and Bright is the Ring of Words (dir.
Julian Garner) all London and Edinburgh.
