Stephen Dodgson (b.
17 March 1924)
Stephen
Dodgson, born in 1924, studied and later taught theory & composition
at the Royal College of Music. Although he has written a certain
amount of vocal music, the bulk of his composition so far has
been instrumental and his guitar music in particular has gained
recognition but he has also written extensively for the harp.
There is a Capriccio and Finak which he wrote for the
Wigmore Ensemble (sextet), a Duo (1958) for flute and
harp, and a Ballade (1969) for solo harp. His second
guitar concerto (1972) contains a very important part for the
harp.
