Recorder player Evelyn Nallen made her BBC debut at the age of 9, and her remarkable skills span early, baroque and contemporary music. Harpsichordist David Gordon also has an established reputation as a jazz pianist and prize-winning composer. He has played with saxophonist Andy Sheppard, the English Consort, and regularly works with Jacqui Dankworth | ||||||||||||
Ichiro Tatsuhara left Japan aged 18 to play drums in the USA. Drawn to the UK he has played with Captain Sensible and P J Harvey as well as many top jazz groups. With influences from Africa, Cuba and Ireland, he is a unique percussionist. | ||||||||||||
Double bassist Oli Hayhurst is one of the most solid and exciting young players to emerge from the Royal Academy of Music in recent years. He has built up an impressive CV, having worked with artists ranging from Paul McCartney and Melanie C to jazz saxophone gurus Martin Speake and Gilad Atzmon. | ||||||||||||
The four players are leaders in their fields, and in their other activities range from French baroque dance music, to tango to club scene and indie rock music, which provides both a global perspective on their music and a distinctively English flavour. Together they provide a dazzling array of colours, textures and moods, and play a wide variety of music from medieval to innovative improvisation, all tailored to suit their distinctive sound. Respectable
Groove have played at many of the UK's major concert halls,
including the Purcell Room, St Martin in the Fields, the
Barbican Centre and two of the UK's leading festivals,
Brighton and Henley on Thames. In addition, they have performed
live on BBC Radio 3, and their music has received frequent
airplay on national radio. The group tours Switzerland for
the first time in June. |
